  • Are they actively taking new patients?
  • Do they accept my preferred provider under my insurance plan?
  • Do they accept Medicare?
  • Research their qualifications and background. A simple online search typically provides lots of information.
  • Ask other patients of the provider about their experiences.
  • Is the age, sex, race, or religion of the doctor important to me?
  • Will language be an obstacle to communication? Is there someone in the office who speaks my language?
